Activity Guide
Göynük is a charming resort town just 6 km north of Kemer, famous for its dramatic canyon and lush pine forests. It's quieter than Kemer, greener, and the best base for nature-focused activities. Göynük Canyon is the headline attraction, but the surrounding Taurus foothills offer hiking, mountain biking, and spectacular viewpoints — all best accessed by car.
Göynük Canyon: the region's best natural attraction, a 10-minute drive or taxi from the town centre. A 2 km trail through a dramatic gorge, partly on wooden walkways built into the cliffside, ending at a waterfall and natural swimming pool. Entry ~€3–5. Arrive before 10:00 in summer to beat the tour groups. A rental car means you can get there at 09:00 when the canyon opens and have it almost to yourself for the first hour.
Nature & outdoors: hiking trails in the Taurus foothills start from Göynük — trails range from easy forest walks to challenging mountain ascents. Mountain biking routes on forest roads. Picnic areas in the pine forests with mountain views. The Göynük River has refreshing swimming holes in summer. Jeep safaris depart from Göynük for off-road mountain exploration. All these activities are easier with your own transport.
Day trips from Göynük: Kemer (6 km south, 10 minutes) for beaches, marina, dining. Beldibi (7 km north, 10 minutes) for a quieter beach and coastal walk. Antalya (40 km, 40 minutes) for Old Town, museums, and shopping. Phaselis (16 km, 20 minutes) for ancient ruins and swimming. Tahtalı Mountain (20 km, 30 minutes) for the cable car. Göynük is well-positioned — north to Antalya is closer than from Kemer, south to the ruins is still quick.
Göynük Canyon (10 min drive, must-see), hiking and mountain biking in the Taurus foothills, forest picnic areas, river swimming holes, and easy access to both Kemer (6 km) and Antalya (40 km). A nature lover's ideal base.
4 km — a 10-minute drive or taxi. The road is paved but narrow through the village. A car park at the canyon entrance costs ~€1–2. Entry to the canyon ~€3–5. No public transport to the canyon — a car or taxi is essential.
Excellent. The Taurus foothills offer trails for all levels. The Lycian Way passes near Göynük. The canyon walk is easy and suitable for families. Mountain trails are more challenging. A car lets you reach trailheads that are otherwise inaccessible.
