Destination Guide
Tahtalı Mountain (Mount Olympos) rises 2,365 metres above the Mediterranean — the highest peak in the region. The Olympos Teleferik (cable car) takes you from the base station at 726m to the summit in 10 minutes, offering 360° views of the entire Antalya coastline. The drive to the cable car base station from Kemer takes 25 minutes via a spectacular mountain road.
Getting there: from Kemer, take the road toward Tekirova (D400 south). After about 7 km, turn left (east) following signs for 'Olympos Teleferik' or 'Tahtalı Dağı'. The road immediately begins climbing through pine forest — it's fully paved but steep and winding. Follow the signs for 15 km (about 20 minutes of climbing). You'll reach the cable car base station at 726m altitude. Large free car park. Cable car ticket: ~€25–30 per person (2025 prices). The cable car runs daily from 10:00 to 18:00 (extended hours in summer).
What to experience: (1) The cable car ride — 4,350 metres long, one of the longest in Europe, takes 10 minutes each way. Glass cabins with 360° views. (2) The summit — 2,365m, panoramic views from Antalya to Finike on clear days, often above the clouds. Temperature at the summit is typically 10–15°C cooler than at sea level — bring a jacket even in summer. (3) Summit café and viewing platforms — spend 30–60 minutes at the top. (4) Paragliding — tandem paragliding flights launch from near the summit (book in advance).
Driving tips: the mountain road to the base station is fully paved but steep and winding with hairpin bends. Use low gears on both ascent and descent. The road is narrow in places — give way to descending traffic. Check cable car operating status before driving — it closes in strong winds. Best time: morning (10:00–12:00) for clearest views before afternoon haze builds. Bring a jacket — the summit is cold even in July. The drive itself is spectacular — allow extra time for photo stops at the mountain viewpoints.
Take the D400 south 7 km from Kemer, turn left at 'Olympos Teleferik' sign. Follow the mountain road 15 km to the base station. 25 minutes total. Large free car park. Cable car ~€25–30 pp.
The road is fully paved but steep and winding with hairpin bends. Any car handles it — use low gears and take it slowly. The views are worth it. Check cable car status before driving — closed in strong winds.
A jacket — the summit is 10–15°C cooler than sea level, cold even in summer. Sunglasses, camera, water. The summit has a café but prices are high — bring snacks if on a budget.
