Rental Guide
Most car rental companies require a credit card and block €800–1,500 as a deposit. RENAX uses your credit card for registration (identity verification) only — zero funds blocked. This guide explains exactly how we use your card, why we need it, and what to do if you don't have a credit card.
Why rental companies ask for a credit card: a credit card serves two purposes in car rental — (1) Identity verification: the card confirms your identity and provides a financial trail. (2) Security deposit: most companies block a large amount on the card to cover potential damage, fines, or theft. At RENAX, we use your card ONLY for purpose #1 (identity verification). We do NOT block any deposit. This is possible because we're a local business operating on trust, not an international chain with automated risk systems.
What happens with your card at RENAX: at pick-up, we'll ask to see a credit or debit card in the driver's name. We note the card details in our records (standard practice). No amount is blocked, pre-authorised, or held. Your available credit does not change. At return, we process the rental payment — either on the same card, in cash, or via bank transfer (your choice). That's it. Your card is used for: identity confirmation, and optionally for rental payment. Nothing else.
What if I don't have a credit card? We accept debit cards (Visa/Mastercard) for registration. If you have neither a credit nor a debit card: WhatsApp us before booking. We can usually work something out — a larger cash deposit (fully refundable at return), a bank transfer in advance, or alternative verification. The key is communication — tell us your situation and we'll find a solution. We've helped guests without cards many times.

Yes — Visa and Mastercard debit cards are accepted for registration. We don't block funds on debit cards either. If your debit card is in the driver's name, it works.
