Seasonal Guide
September is Kemer's secret best month — the weather is still gloriously hot (30–34°C), the sea is at its warmest after a full summer of heating (27°C), but the crowds thin dramatically after the first week as European schools reopen. The light turns golden, the pace relaxes, and you get peak summer conditions without peak summer chaos. A rental car lets you savour every moment of this perfect month.
Weather: highs 30–34°C, lows 20–24°C, 1–2 rainy days (usually late September). Sea: 27°C — warmer than June, same as August. Sunshine: 10–12 hours. The quality of light changes — the harsh white summer glare softens to golden. Sunsets are spectacular. Humidity drops as the month progresses. Early September still feels like August. Late September feels like perfect summer. The transition is gradual and glorious.
Best activities: (1) Beach perfection — the sea is bath-warm, the beaches are half-empty after the first week, and the sun is still powerful. This is the best beach month of the year. (2) Ancient ruins — still hot but manageable. Phaselis at 09:00 with the golden September light on the ruins is photographer's heaven. (3) Road trips — the Kaş/Kalkan drive in September is perfection. Warm but not scorching, light traffic, Kaputaş Beach at its most beautiful. (4) Hiking — the Lycian Way becomes viable again as temperatures moderate. (5) Sunset everything — September sunsets are the best of the year. Marina rooftops, Phaselis Southern Harbour, Çıralı Beach.
Driving: perfect conditions. Warm but not unbearably hot. AC still needed midday but windows-down driving is glorious in mornings and evenings. Traffic drops significantly after the first week. Parking is easy everywhere. The D400 is a pleasure. September is the best driving month — summer warmth, autumn light, empty roads.
Summer heat (30–34°C), warmest sea (27°C), golden light, half the crowds of August, and everything still open. It's the perfect combination of peak summer conditions with shoulder-season peace.
Yes — 30–34°C is proper summer heat. The sea at 27°C is warmer than June. September is a full summer month by any measure. The difference from August is fewer crowds and softer light, not cooler temperatures.
Dramatically after the first week when European schools reopen. By mid-September, beaches and attractions feel half-empty. Late September is wonderfully quiet. Book early September for the vibe, late September for the peace.
