May is the sweet spot for Kemer — summer warmth without summer crowds. Highs reach 24–28°C, the sea warms to a comfortable 21°C, and everything is open and freshly prepared for the season. It's the last month before peak summer prices kick in. A rental car lets you maximise the glorious weather with beach hopping and road trips.
Weather: highs 24–28°C, lows 14–18°C, 3–5 rainy days. The landscape is still green from spring but transitioning to summer gold. Sea temperature: 21°C — comfortably swimmable for most people. Sunshine: 10–11 hours per day. Crowds: increasing through the month but still well below July–August levels. Prices: 20–30% lower than peak summer. The perfect balance of great weather and manageable crowds.
Best activities: (1) Beach days — the sea is warm enough for comfortable swimming. Moonlight Beach, Çıralı, and Phaselis beaches are all excellent in May. (2) Ancient ruins — still uncrowded compared to summer. Phaselis and Olympos are glorious in May sunshine. (3) Boat trips — the Three Islands cruise from Kemer Marina starts operating in May. (4) Tahtalı Mountain cable car — clear spring air gives the best visibility of the year. You can see from Antalya to Finike. (5) Road trips — May is perfect for the Kaş/Kalkan drive. The weather is ideal, traffic is light, and Kaputaş Beach is warm enough to swim.
Driving conditions: perfect. Dry roads, light traffic, ideal temperatures (no AC needed — windows down weather). Parking is still easy everywhere. May has the best driving conditions of any month — warm but not hot, dry, and uncrowded. The D400 coastal drive in May, with green mountains and the sparkling Mediterranean, is one of life's great pleasures.
