Seasonal Guide
April is one of the best months to visit Kemer — the landscape is lush green from winter rains, wildflowers carpet the Taurus foothills, ancient ruins are empty, and the weather is perfect for hiking and exploring (highs 20–24°C). The sea is still cool (18–19°C) but swimmable for the brave. A rental car transforms April from a quiet beach break into an exploration paradise.
Weather: highs 20–24°C, lows 10–14°C, 6–8 rainy days. The landscape is at its most beautiful — green hills, blooming oleander and bougainvillea, snow still visible on the Taurus peaks. Sea temperature: 18–19°C (refreshing but swimmable). Sunshine: 8–9 hours per day. Crowds: very low — this is shoulder season. Prices: 30–40% lower than July–August. The perfect month for active travellers who prefer exploring over lying on a beach.
Best activities: (1) Hiking — April is THE month for Lycian Way sections and Taurus foothill trails. Temperatures are ideal (not hot, not cold), wildflowers are spectacular, and trails are empty. (2) Ancient ruins — Phaselis, Olympos, Myra, and Termessos are uncrowded. You'll often have sites to yourself. (3) Road trips — the D400 coastal drive is glorious with green mountains and snow-capped peaks. Drive to Kaş or Kalkan without summer traffic. (4) Göynük Canyon — waterfalls are at their strongest from spring melt. (5) Mountain tea gardens — the Taurus foothill çay bahçesis are green, cool, and peaceful.
Driving conditions: excellent. Roads are dry, traffic is light, and parking is easy everywhere. April showers are brief — typically afternoon showers that pass in 30 minutes. A light jacket in the car is useful for evenings. The D400 and all mountain roads are in good condition after winter maintenance. Fuel prices are stable. April is arguably the best driving month — no summer heat, no winter rain, perfect conditions.
Excellent — 20–24°C, lush green landscapes, empty ruins, and perfect hiking weather. The sea is cool (18–19°C) but swimmable. Best month for active explorers. 30–40% cheaper than summer.
Yes — sea temperature is 18–19°C. It's refreshing rather than warm, but many people swim. Hotel pools may not be heated. If swimming is your priority, May–October is better.
Layers — warm days (20–24°C), cool evenings (10–14°C). A light jacket, walking shoes (for hiking), swimwear (if you're brave), and a rain jacket for occasional showers. April weather is variable — come prepared for everything.
