Rental Guide
Fuel policy is one of the biggest hidden profit centres for car rental companies β 'full-to-empty' policies charge you for a full tank at inflated prices. RENAX operates a fair full-to-full policy: you receive the car with a full tank, you return it with a full tank. Pay only for the fuel you use, at normal pump prices. No markups, no 'refuelling charges', no games.
How full-to-full works: when you pick up your RENAX car, the fuel tank is full. You drive as much as you want. Before returning, you fill the tank back to full at any petrol station. That's it. You pay exactly what the pump charges β currently ~β¬1.40/L for petrol, ~β¬1.35/L for diesel. A full tank in a Renault Clio (45L) costs about β¬63. A week of typical holiday driving (500 km at 5L/100km) costs about β¬35 in fuel.
Full-to-empty β the policy to avoid: many rental companies (especially airport chains) offer a 'full-to-empty' or 'pre-purchase' fuel option. You pay for a full tank upfront at the rental counter β at their inflated rate (often β¬2β3/L, double the pump price). You return the car with as little fuel as possible (you've already paid for it). The problem: you almost always leave unused fuel in the tank that you've paid for at an inflated price. You also can't accurately plan to return it exactly empty. This policy is a profit centre, not a service.
RENAX fair fuel tips: fill up at the Shell station on the D400 at the Kemer turn-off β it's the most convenient pre-return station. If returning at Antalya Airport, fill up at the Shell station 2 km from AYT (D400 junction) before driving the final stretch. Keep your fuel receipt as proof of refill. We check the fuel gauge at return β if it's full, you're good. If you genuinely can't refill (late-night return, emergency), we'll charge you the missing fuel at pump price β not an inflated rate. We're reasonable people.
Full-to-full β the fairest policy. You receive the car with a full tank, you return it full. Pay only for the fuel you use at normal pump prices (ββ¬1.40/L petrol, ββ¬1.35/L diesel). No inflated refuelling charges.
We'll charge the missing fuel at the current pump price β not an inflated rate. We're reasonable. But please try to refill β it's cheaper for you and simpler for us. The Shell station at the Kemer D400 turn-off is the most convenient.
A typical week of holiday driving (~500 km) costs about β¬35 in petrol or β¬30 in diesel. A full tank (45L) costs about β¬63 in petrol. Fuel is a minor expense compared to the freedom a car provides.
