Driving Guide
Parking in Turkey is simpler than you might expect, but getting it wrong means a fine or clamped vehicle. This guide covers legal parking, paid car parks (otopark), restricted zones, and local parking etiquette in Kemer, Antalya, and at major tourist sites.
Legal parking: park anywhere not explicitly restricted, as long as you don't block traffic, driveways, or pedestrian paths. White-lined bays = free. Blue-lined bays = paid (look for meter/attendant). Yellow kerb lines = no parking. 'Park Yapılmaz' (red circle with P and slash) = No Parking. 'Duraklamak Yasaktır' = No Stopping — not even briefly.
Paid parking (otopark): Kemer centre — several otoparks near marina, €1–3/day. Antalya Old Town — underground near Hadrian's Gate, ~€2/hour. Phaselis — national park car park, ~€1. Göynük Canyon — small car park, ~€1. Most beaches — free parking nearby. Almost all Kemer hotels — free guest parking.
Parking DON'Ts: Never park on sidewalks (kaldırım) — you WILL be fined or towed. Never within 5m of hydrant/junction/crossing. Never in disabled spaces without permit. Never leave valuables visible — while Kemer is very safe, opportunistic theft happens in crowded areas.
Yes — most street and hotel parking is free. White bays = free, blue bays = paid (~€1–3/day). Marina otopark is the most convenient central option.
Underground car park near Hadrian's Gate — ~€2/hour. Street parking extremely limited. Park outside the walls if full.
Only where not restricted (no yellow lines, no 'Park Yapılmaz' signs). Don't block traffic or driveways. When in doubt, use a paid otopark.
