Phaselis is one of the most remarkable ancient sites on the Turkish Riviera — a Lycian harbour city founded around 690 BC, tucked between three sheltered bays and surrounded by Taurus pine forest. It sits just 15 minutes south of Kemer by car, making it the perfect half-day escape from your hotel.
What to See at Phaselis
Unlike heavily commercialised ruins, Phaselis retains a raw, atmospheric quality. Walk the ancient colonnaded street that connects the three harbours, explore the Roman theatre carved into the hillside, and cool off in the crystal-clear North Bay — one of the clearest swimming spots on the entire Antalya coast.
The site is surrounded by pine trees, so even on hot summer days you will find welcome shade. Bring water and sturdy shoes — the paths between ruins are unpaved.
Getting There
Phaselis is located on the D400 coastal highway, approximately 14 km south of Kemer centre and 2 km east of Tekirova village. By rental car, the drive takes around 15 minutes from Kemer and around 40 minutes from Antalya Airport. There is a small car park at the entrance. Public transport options are limited, which makes a rental car the most practical choice by far.
Best Time to Visit
April to June and September to October offer the best combination of warm weather, calm seas and smaller crowds. In July and August the site is busiest between 11am and 3pm — arrive before 9am or after 4pm for a quieter experience.
Tip from RENAX
Combine Phaselis with a stop at Adrasan Beach (30 min south) for a full day out. Both are easily reached with a rental car from Kemer.
