The Best Roads from AYT — Coastal D400, Mountain Alternatives & Scenic Detours
Antalya Airport routes: the D400 coastal highway is the main artery connecting AYT to Kemer (40 min), Antalya city (20 min), and every resort along the Turkish Riviera. But there are scenic alternatives — the mountain road through the Taurus foothills, the coastal detour via Konyaaltı, and the backroads to the Lycian interior. This guide covers all AYT routes.
Primary route — D400 South (AYT → Kemer): This is the default, and for good reason. The D400 is a modern dual carriageway that runs from Antalya Airport all the way to Kaş and beyond. Southbound from AYT: exit the airport complex, follow signs for 'Kemer/D400', merge onto the highway, and stay on it for 38 km. The road is well-signposted, well-maintained, and offers stunning Mediterranean views. Speed limit: 110 km/h. No tolls.
Alternative scenic route — D400 via Konyaaltı (AYT → Antalya → Konyaaltı → Kemer): Rather than taking the direct D400 south, drive through Antalya city centre (15 min from AYT), follow the coast road through Konyaaltı Beach (beautiful sea views), and continue south to Kemer. This adds about 15 minutes but gives you a proper introduction to Antalya's coastline. Ideal if you're not in a rush and want to see the city lights or beachfront on your way.
Mountain route (AYT → D400 → D350 → Kemer backroad): For adventurous drivers: from the D400, take the D350 north toward the Taurus foothills, then follow the winding mountain road that descends into Kemer from behind. This route is longer (about 1h 30min), partially unpaved in sections, and requires confident driving. Not recommended in a standard saloon — take the Dacia Duster SUV or Suzuki Samurai 4x4 from RENAX if you want to try this. The views from the mountain pass are spectacular.

The D400 coastal highway southbound — 43 km, 40 minutes, one road all the way. It's well-signposted, well-maintained, and virtually impossible to get lost on.
No. There are no toll roads (HGS/OGS) on the D400 between AYT and Kemer, or anywhere along the coastal route. Toll roads in Turkey are mainly on motorways (Otoyol) connecting major cities.
Yes. Drive through Antalya city centre and follow the coast road via Konyaaltı Beach — adds about 15 minutes but offers beautiful sea views and a proper introduction to the Antalya coastline.
