Travel Guide
Kemer isn't one town — it's a 40 km coastal strip of distinct areas, each with a different character. Kemer centre is lively and convenient. Kiriş is upscale and resort-focused. Çamyuva is relaxed and family-friendly. Tekirova is exclusive and close to ruins. Göynük is green and nature-focused. This guide helps you choose the perfect base — and explains why having a rental car makes any location work brilliantly.
Kemer Centre: the hub. Best for: nightlife, dining variety, convenience. The marina, Moonlight Beach, and most restaurants are here. Hotels range from boutique to large resorts. Traffic and parking can be challenging in August — but with a rental car, you can escape the centre in 5 minutes. Best area if you want to walk to dinner and have easy access to everything.
Kiriş: upscale resort zone. Best for: luxury travellers, couples. Home to Maxx Royal Kemer Resort and Club Med Palmiye. Quieter than the centre, with a beautiful bay. 2 km from Kemer centre (5-minute drive). Limited dining outside the resorts — a car lets you eat in Kemer or Çamyuva easily.
Çamyuva: relaxed and family-friendly. Best for: families, couples seeking peace. Long sandy beach, quieter atmosphere, proximity to Phaselis (6 km). 8 km from Kemer. Limited nightlife — perfect if you want to relax. A car is highly recommended here — you're slightly removed from the action.
Tekirova: exclusive and close to ruins. Best for: archaeology enthusiasts, Rixos guests. Closest town to Phaselis (2 km), Olympos (11 km), and Çıralı (13 km). Home to Rixos Premium Tekirova. 12 km from Kemer. Very quiet outside the resort. A car is practically essential — the best sights are south of you.
Göynük: nature lover's base. Best for: hikers, nature enthusiasts, families. Close to Göynük Canyon, forest trails, and the Taurus foothills. 6 km from Kemer. Greener and cooler than coastal areas. A car lets you reach trailheads that are otherwise inaccessible.
Kemer Centre for convenience and nightlife. Çamyuva for families and a relaxed beach vibe. Tekirova for proximity to Phaselis and ancient sites. Kiriş for luxury resorts. Göynük for nature. With a rental car, all areas work — you're never more than 15 minutes from anywhere.
Not essential for the town itself — you can walk to the beach and restaurants. But for exploring beyond Kemer (Phaselis, Olympos, Antalya), a car transforms your holiday. Central Kemer has the best parking options of any area.
Kemer for beaches, nature, and ancient ruins at your doorstep. Antalya for city culture, museums, and shopping. Many visitors split their stay: a few days in Antalya, then Kemer for the rest. The 50-minute drive between them makes this easy with a rental car.
